Living the Best Day Ever Through the Fuckery

Nex Benedict, a nonbinary teen in Owasso, OK was beaten in a girl’s bathroom and later died from those sustained injuries. Legislation required that Nex use the restroom for the gender they were assigned at birth, not the bathroom Nex was most comfortable in. As anti-transgender laws are taking off like wildfire across the country, more transgender people’s lives are put in danger.

With this, and everything else going on in the world, how do we live each day as the best day ever? Maybe it would be helpful to watch this inspirational message from Addison Villines at the United Life Center for Spiritual Living on the subject. Or Corabelle Bundy Jolie’s message from the Ahava Center for Spiritual Living in Lexington, KY.

I spent most of Black History Month arguing with country music fans on Facebook about how Beyonce’s entrance into the genre spotlights how black artists are typically excluded. Artists like Nelly and Lil” Nas X needed duets with country music legends to get radio play. On the bright side, I’ve learned a lot about the history of black artists in country music. I’m outchea fighting the good fight and learning at the same time!

But I also traveled to Charleston, SC to use my voice to advocate for marginalized people in Centers for Spiritual Living communities around the world. I participated in a panel about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) live at the conference and a follow-up virtual conversation at the beginning of March.

I’m not slowing down! In April, I’m traveling all over the country to speak about practicing gentleness, which is a great method of living each day as the best day ever, despite the fuckery happening in the world. What practices do you use to live each day as the best day ever? We’d love to hear from you in our Best Day Ever Movement Facebook Group
